Again this year, we collaborated with the CalCo Quilt Guild that had a show the same weekend, and featured handmade quilts in each garden. We are delighted to have provided another event to share Marshall’s beauty and hospitality with visitors, many of whom came from other cities and states. It is worth mentioning as well that the proceeds from the Garden Tour will go toward making our city a more beautiful place. As you admire the plantings around the Fountain Circle, the new work being done on the West End Gardens, and Carver Park, just to name a few, think of the Garden Club! And, if you missed the tour this year, plan on attending next year as we celebrate our 28th tour.
Plan to visit this web site (www.marshallareagardenclub.org) for more information. We invite anyone to join who has an interest in gardening and we welcome new members. Thanks for supporting the Marshall Area Garden Club! And, a special thanks to Karla and Mike Love for serving as the 2017 “Welcome to My Garden” tour co-chairs - to all the garden owners who worked so hard to show their gardens - and to everyone who helped Karla and Mike make this year's tour another success!!! Sincerely, Steve Rhodes, Incoming President |
Gehrig Garden: 612 N KalamazooUpon entering the garden, guests were greeted by a beautifully designed water feature and a winding path that lead them through interesting garden beds to the back yard. The wooded back yard was recently cleared and landscaped to create more sunshine for a new swimming pool and family play area, creating the park like vista.

Nager Garden - 126 W Prospect St

Nobbs Garden - 705 W Green St
Rhodes Garden - 612 Hill Rd.
When visiting this garden guests found that the natural approach to hillside gardening dispensed with the mower in favor of ground covers, perennials and winding paths resulting in a mosaic of green hues accented with pops of white and color. Guests found an historic restored potting shed that shared space with a bubbling waterfall and stream providing a haven for birds and frogs. Unique to the Rhodes garden were displays of art.

Slick Garden - 324 N Linden St
Purcell Garden - 516 S Marshall Ave
This peaceful retreat is located on a busy street by the county fairgrounds. Once inside the garden, tranquility is achieved through the softness of the plant textures and the coolness of the overhead vines and foliage. A wide variety of unusual perennials, shrubs and ornamental trees offer color and texture to the landscape palette and green backdrops.
